MENSTRUAL HYGIENE EDUCATION FOR ALL

OUR MISSION
At Akshata Foundation, our primary goal is to educate young adolescents on the importance of switching to sustainable cloth pads, while actively discouraging the use of plastic-based sanitary products. By doing so, we aim to protect both women’s health and our planet.
We also strive to raise awareness about cervical cancer and reduce menstrual hygiene ignorance—not just among girls, but among boys too.
By holding inclusive conversations in schools, we break taboos, promote empathy, and build communities that are informed, respectful, and supportive.

OUR INITIATIVES
Through the Akshata Foundation, we have distributed over 400 cloth pads across five government schools in rural Bangalore over the past two years. During this time, we have educated approximately 452 young girls on how to use cloth pads, understand their benefits, and maintain them through proper cleaning practices.
Our sessions go beyond just product education—we delve into essential topics such as cervical health, understanding the uterus, and the diseases associated with poor menstrual hygiene. These conversations are designed to empower young girls with knowledge, promote sustainable practices, and break the silence around menstrual health.
